Final Work

I decided to put this work in the snowy mountains of Japan, having both Jiro Ono and Shinya Kimura being Japanese.  My intention was to create an isolated, 'Miesian Box' which lights up the serene surrounding environment. In this way, the structure becomes luminous and has an enchanting effect. This concept is synonymous with the works of Ono & Kimura.

My material section aimed to create a Site Specific work, as well as draw on the feeling expressed by the respective artists. This is why I use raw materials such as Brick and Graphite for Kimura, which is stunningly juxtaposed with the industrial steel. This plays on the notion of 'organic vs. industrialisation'. Whereas Ono's space is created by Mother of Pearl stairs representing elegance, and traditional Timber. The Datum is made up of Cement  as I believe this is a contemporary material that doesn't detract from the space and allows the space to speak for itself. This too reflects the respective artists as both being contemporary in their own way; Ono's new take on the art of Sushi, and Kimura's revolutionised work of creating motorcycles as an instinctive practice.

My Final Work was influenced by the following Section. It responds to both nouns oriental & urban.
